| Our My Acrylic® blocks are good for more than one purpose! Using just the edge of a block, ink in your favorite color and stamp the edge for journaling lines. |
Tinted
Liquid Glass |
| Tint
your favorite accessories with liquid glass. Simply pour a nickel-size
amount of liquid glass onto a non-porous surface, add 2 drops
of re-inker, and blend with a toothpick or skewer. Using tweezers
from the eyelet kit, dip brads or other accessories into colored
liquid glass and let dry before adding to your project. |

Liquid
Glass |
| Add
shine to your projects with the use of Liquid Glass! Liquid
Glass comes in a handy, simple to use bottle with a fine-tip
dispenser. Just squeeze desired amount out and let dry. Anything
can be shiny! Here are some ideas for using Liquid Glass: |
| 1. |
Add to shoes to look like Cinderella's glass slippers.
|
| 2. |
Add
to eyes to make shiny. |
| 3. |
Add
to birthday cake plate stamp to make it look like a glass
cake plate. |
| 4. |
Use
over a snowflake then add prisma glitter for sparkling
results. |
|
Brayer |
| Create
fun and exciting patterns using the brayer! For great background
effects, try these ideas: |
| 1. |
Roll brayer across ink pad. Roll brayer across surface
of cardstock in different directions. Repeat the same
procedure using several colors, applying one color at
a time. |
| 2. |
Try
brayering using the Kaleidacolor rainbow inkpad. Gorgeous
results! |
| 3. |
You
will get different effects with different papers. Glossy
paper will yield brilliant results while matte paper will
give a softer tone of colors. |
| 4. |
Brayer
over a smooth surface or rough surface for different textures
on your paper. |
| 5. |
Remove
roller from frame of brayer. Wrap with rubberbands, spacing
them as desired. Replace roller, ink brayer with rubberbands,
and brayer away. |

Coloring
Sassy Strands® |
| These
cool new fibers are the perfect accent to all of your projects!
You can tint your own White Daisy fibers to match our exclusive
colors in one of the following ways: |
| 1. |
Cut fiber to desired length. |
| 2. |
Sponge
color on using sponge or dauber and ink or re-inkers. |
| 3. |
Lay
fiber length across surface of ink pad. Use dauber to
lightly hold fiber in place and gently drag it across
the ink pad. |
| 4. |
Pour
a few drops of re-inker into small dish. Rub fiber in
re-inker until it is dyed. Dry overnight or in microwave. |
| 5. |
Using
a small spritz bottle, pour in several drops of re-inker
and a little water. Lay fibers out on paper towel and
spritz color on. Note: Your color will be lighter than
your re-inker because it is slightly diluted with water.

|
Cracked
Glass |
| This is a
beautiful technique that you'll fall in love with! See
examples here. |
| 1.
|
Stamp
any image on piece of cardstock. Round, square, or rectangle
shapes work best. Color in as desired. |
| 2.
|
Cut
a piece of double-sided adhesive (in catalog) the same
size as your stamped piece of cardstock. Peel one side
off and place on top of stamped cardstock. Now peel off
2nd side of adhesive. |
| 3. |
With
sticky side up, sprinkle clear embossing powder over adhesive,
coating well. Melt powder using craft heater. |
| 4. |
Immediately
coat with clear embossing powder and heat again. Repeat
this process 5-8 times. |
| 5. |
Put
in freezer for approximately 5-10 minutes to speed up
cooling. |
| 6. |
Take
out of freezer and gently bend flat. Cracking will result
as you flatten your piece of artwork. |
|
Watercolor
Spritz |
| Here's
a technique that will give you awesome results, especially when
stamping with solid stamps. |
| 1.
|
Ink
up any stamp, solid or open. (Results will be more dramatic
with solid stamps.) |
| 2.
|
With
a spray bottle filled with water, spray a fine mist into
the air. Holding your stamp, rubber side up, about 1'
below the mist, let the mist lightly sprinkle on your
inked stamp. |
| 3. |
Stamp
image. |
| 4. |
Note:
Work with this technique until you achieve the desired
results. Your image, when stamped, will have a watercolored
look to it. Too much mist will result in a smeared stamped
image so go lightly on the mist! |
|
Multi-Colored
Embossing |
| Achieve
gorgeous embossed images with this super-easy technique. |
| 1.
|
Emboss
any image using clear embossing pad. |
| 2.
|
Working
over the craft tray, sprinkle one color of embossing powder
over half of embossed image. Tap excess off into craft
tray. Return to container. |
| 3. |
Using
2nd color of embossing powder, sprinkle over remaining
half of image. Tap excess off into craft tray. Return
to container. |
| 4. |
Melt
powder using craft heater. See example here. |

Shabby
Chic BRADS |
| You'll
love this one! |
| 1.
|
Start
with any color of brads. We carry gold and silver. |
| 2.
|
Holding
onto the prongs of the brad (or use tweezers from our
Eyelet Kit), heat with embossing tool. (No embossing ink
necessary.) |
| 3. |
Dip
the tip (while hot) in white embossing powder. Use a pair
of tweezers to hold the prongs while you melt the powder
with an embossing tool. While the melted powder is still
hot, dip the tip in the embossing powder again. Melt powder
again. |
| 4. |
Once
powder is dry, gently sand brad just around edges for
a shabby chic look! Or, try the next method below. |
| 5. |
Once
your brad is colored, use your finger to apply a dab of
embossing ink in just a couple places on the brad. This
time, dip brad in a different color of embossing powder.
Melt. You should have a multi-colored brad! |
|
Custom
Colored BRADS |
Another
magic trick for you!
| 1.
|
Start
with any color of brads. We carry gold and silver. |
| 2.
|
Holding
onto the prongs of the brad with tweezers from Eyelet
Kit, heat with heat tool for several seconds. |
| 3. |
With
tip hot, dip the tip of the brad in any colored embossing
powder. Use a pair of tweezers to hold the prongs while
you melt the powder with an embossing tool. While the
melted powder is still hot, dip the tip in the embossing
powder again. Melt powder again. |
That's
all there is to it. Now check out the many colors of embossing
powder that Close To My Heart carries and imagine the possibilities! |
Dry
Embossing |
| Always
a classic, once you try dry embossing, it will become a favorite
technique! You will need a light source (Personal Light Table),
one of our stencils, and an embossing tool. Here's how to
dry emboss:
| 1.
|
Lay
your stencil on top of your light source. Tape in place
if desired. |
| 2.
|
With
the front of your card facing down, lay it on top of the
stencil. You will be working from the backside of your
card. |
| 3. |
With
your embossing tool in hand, lightly trace around the
opening(s) of your stencil. You are actually pushing the
card through the stencil, even though it may not seem
like it. |
| 4. |
Lift
your card up, turn over, and look at your raised pattern!
|
Tip 1:
Lay a piece of wax paper over your card before you trace the
stencil with the embossing tool. You'll find that the wax
paper allows your tool to glide more smoothly.
Tip 2:
With your beautiful pattern facing you, align the stencil
over the pattern and sponge through using chalks or ink. You'll
love the highlighted look! |
Quick
and Easy Coloring Techniques |
| This
is a cool technique when you are in need of a quick but cute
card. Take any medium to large size stamp with 2-4 areas that
will need coloring in. (You will need one stencil for each
color.) Stamp the stamp 2-4 times on cardstock. On each of
the areas that need coloring, cut out one area per stamped
image. For example, if you have a bear with a bow, stamp 2
times on cardstock. On one image, cut out the bow only. On
the other image, cut out just the bear. Once you have your
stamp "stencil", proceed with sponging your color
on using a round sponge or sponge stenciler.
Tip 1:
Always cut your stencil from sturdy cardstock. Glossy works
best.
Tip 2:
Leave plenty of area around your stencil so that you don't
accidentally transfer color off the edge of your stencil.
Tip 3:
For small areas needing color, use sponge daubers.
Tip 4:
Create dimension by adding more color to the outer area of
the image. Try using a different color if you want.
Tip 5:
Remember that you can re-use your stencils! You only need
to cut out one set of stencils, so make it easy on yourself
and put your stencils in a safe place. |
Shaving
Cream Technique |
| The
shaving cream technique is pretty easy. Spread a thin layer
of shaving cream on a cookie sheet. Add a few drops of re-inker
and swirl with the end of a pencil or other object. Be careful
not to over-mix. Lay your cardstock (glossy side down if using
glossy paper) in the shaving cream. Lift out and lay on a paper
towel. Use another paper towel to wipe off the excess shaving
cream. You should have a beautiful pattern on your paper! |
Blending
Pen |
| What
a fun tool to use for coloring in! The blending pen features
two tips: one brush tip and one fine tip. Each tip is filled
with a colorless ink so you can pick up ink of your choice
and begin coloring in. The great thing about the blending
pen is that you can control the intensity of your color.
How to
use with ink pads: With
the ink pad closed, gently press the lid so that the inside
touches the surface of the ink pad. Open the ink pad and,
with the blending pen, lift color from the lid.
How to
use with re-inkers: Add a few drops of re-inker to the lid
of your ink pad or other non-porous surface. Pick up a tiny
bit of ink with the blending pen. Blot excess color off on
scratch paper before coloring your image.
How to
use with chalks: Use the tip of the blending pen to lift color
directly off of your chalks.
How to
use with watercolors pencils: Use the tip of the blending
pen to pull color directly off the tip of a watercolor pencil.
Or, color image with watercolors and gently blend colors using
the blending pen.
